dod.defense.fishing [ With Leon Eckert ]
defense.fishing is a tool that generates network maps of coporate entities, contract awards, and military technology based on daily Pentagon press releases.
Every day contracts valued $7 million or more are announced by the Department of Defense. A single release will never reveal conspiracy. Nor will it do too much work to clarify the trajectory of America's Global War on Terror ™. However, our hope is that if taken in aggregate, the relationship between these contract announcements will help us to better understand the phenomena of modern warfare in the United States
This is a project about intercepting signals from NOAA satellites
Radio Signals are overwhelming. Transmissions from indifferent devices, near or far, swarm the air around us as we push through our cities unaware of all information not meant for us. Amongst the information not necessarily meant for us are the signals transmitted from unmanned meteorological satellites. However, with the correct equipment, some software, and patience you can tease out satellite imagery from the air, with spectacular results
Crater Scraping is an ongoing research project that seeks to train a Convolutional Neural Network to identify and classify nuclear weapons test sites. Crater Scraping works by utilizing information from FOIA requests and research from military historians to scrape satellite imagery of weapons test sites.
Images are then used to train a Neural Network to identify and classify man made geological events from satellite imagery.
